I am currently the Head of the Big Data Analytics Department at the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence of the Cyprus University of Technology. Before, I worked as a Researcher at KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, University of Cyprus, as a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Nottingham Trent University, U.K., as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre of Computational Intelligence, De Montfort University Leicester, U.K. and as a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Computer Science, University of Leicester, U.K.
I received the B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Computer Science from the University of Leicester, U.K., in 2008, the M.Sc. degree in Natural Computation from the University of Birmingham , U.K., in 2009, and the Ph.D degree in Computer Science from the University of Leicester, U.K. in 2013 (PhD thesis: "Ant colony optimization in static and dynamic environments").
My research interests include evolutionary computation, swarm intelligence, memetic computing, combinatorial optimization problems, heuristics and metaheuristics, artificial neural networks for classification, artificial intelligence in dynamic and uncertain environments, and relevant real-world applications.
In 2022 I was appointed Chair of the IEEE Task Force on Evolutionary Computation in Dynamic and Uncertain Environments (under the Evolutionary Computation Technical Committee of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society). I am a Member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (since 2013) and an Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (since 2017). Since 2020, I am listed in the Stanford University World's Top 2% Scientists List (DOI:10.17632/btchxktzyw.6). I am ranked as a Lifetime Highly Ranked Scholar (Top 0.05% Scholars Worldwide) by ScholarGPS in the field of Ant Colony Optimization.
